This page contains wiring diagrams for household fans including: ceiling fans and light kits, dimmer switches, fan speed controllers, 3 way fan switches, and bathroom exhaust fan circuits. This is true of most Hunter and Harbor Breeze ceiling fans found at your local home store. The black wire is usually the hot for the fan and the blue wire is the hot for the light.
The white wire is the neutral for the fixture and the green is the ground. The white wire from the fixture is connected directly to the source neutral wire, either at the fixture box or through a splice at the switch box. The ground wire is spliced to the source ground and to any outlet box terminal using a pigtail.
In some household circuits, the white wire may also be used to substitute for a hot wire. In these cases, it should be wrapped with black electrical tape or otherwise marked to identify it as hot. This wiring diagram illustrates the connections for a ceiling fan and light with two switches, a speed controller for the fan and a dimmer for the lights.
The source is at the switches and the input of each is spliced to the black source wire with a wire nut. From the switches, 3-wire cable runs to the ceiling outlet box. At the switch box, the black wire is splice to the output on the speed controller and at the other end to the black fan wire. The red wire is spliced to the output on the dimmer and at the other end to the blue light wire. The neutral from the source is spliced in the switch box with the white wire running to the fan and at the other end to the neutral wire on the ceiling fixture.
Likewise, the ground wire is connected to any grounding terminals in the switch box and spliced to run to the fan location. Three-wire cable runs from there to the controllers on the wall. The neutral wire from the source is spliced directly to the white wire on the ceiling fixture.
The hot source wire is spliced to the white on the 3-wire cable and then spliced to the input wires on both controllers at the other end. The white wire is wrapped with black tape to identify it as hot. The black cable wire connects the fan to the speed controller and the red wire connects the light to the dimmer. The white wire is no longer used for hot and instead, the source neutral is run through to the switch box to satisfy the NEC requirement.
Two wires in this arrangement are not used, the white wire in the second cable and one of the ground wires. These should be capped at both ends with a wire nut.
All other wiring is the same as in the previous diagram. To wire a 3-way switch circuit that controls both the fan and the light, use this diagram. As with all 3-way circuits, the common on one switch is connected to the hot source wire from the circuit. Splice both the fan and the light hot wires together with the common wire from the SW2.
The traveler wires are spliced together in the ceiling fixture box to run between switches. The travelers do not connect to the fan or light.Free Wiring Diagram. Collection of ceiling fan and light wiring diagram.

Visitors Favorite Pages. But there are not many of them in proportion to those of lower quality. If you decide to submit your site to a directory, make sure its on topic, moderated, and well structured. Mass submissions, which are sometimes offered as a quick work-around SEO method, are mostly useless and not likely to serve your purposes.
Most directories send you VERY little or no referral traffic and on their own in little numbers have little impact in SERPs.
If you have a new site, a site with low-quality links or in a difficult niche to build links, then submission to high-quality directories is an option for you. Directory links are an age-old link building tactic. Those type of links should come from better sources in 2017.
Some directories probably do have some citation value. It is also perfectly natural to have some directories in your link profile. Links from directories can also help place you in a topical niche online. You can pay for a review, but the rules state you cannot pay for a link. It is a bit of a catch-22 with directories.
You are unlikely to get into severe issues with directory links (in terms of penalties) if you avoid low-quality techniques to manipulate the SERPS (in the short-term).
STICK to using your brand name or URL for your directory listing. Directories are a low-level link building opportunity. While a few links from a few select directories might be worth a listing, do not rely on directories as large part of your future marketing campaigns.
If you have very few links or a poor link profile, a few directories can be useful. Stick to higher quality directories. A log time ago (site-wide links are not really in fashion now) I used a very simple method to get 500 links from a PR 5 site with over 3000 links to it.
Yes, a real site. Looking at the SERPs I was interested in, I spotted an expired, suspended domain that was ranking for a term I cherished.
The site was suspended and had been like that for the last six months. There was no content on the site, so I knew immediately it was the strength of the incoming back links alone that was keeping this high.
I ran the expired suspended domain through a back link checker, identified the most powerful links, contacted the site owners in question and explained to them:Not only did I get a friendly email thanking me for pointing out they had broken links on their site (broken links are never a good thing), I now have 500 new links on a real site pointing to my site. If you can see a win-win (something as simple as links in return for pointing out another site has broken links on it) jump on it.
This process is called backlink reclamation. Do not buy any of these types of links, and I would AVOID like the plague any of these types of pages where you can spot obvious anchor text abuse, often to unrelated sites. The more relevant the page is to your business, the better. Some of these types of pages do have incredible value.
It is also perfectly natural to have some of these types of links in your link profile if you have a reputable site. Article syndication (for search engine optimisation purposes) is a big no-no for me in 2017.
I still think the place for your articles should be on your blog, on the whole, to attract traffic and links, and to build your reputation as an authority. I once wrote an article that had a signature link back to my site, and while testing how well it had penetrated the SERPs and in how many instances, there was one trusted domain with the content republished, and THAT had attracted a link from a then PR 9 page on a very old trusted site.
I also found another couple of sites that were willing to link to that kind of content for future reference. Use sparingly and with GREAT caution. I avoid article submission sites these days.Bowls with saucers are great for stacking. We also use Anchor glass refrigerator containers to store daily portions of our homemade cat food. More on that below. The key to freezing foods in glass is not to fill the jar too full, since the food will expand inside the container. The other caveat is not to heat the glass too quickly.
Let foods thaw at room temperature to avoid glass breakage. Another option for the refrigerator or freezer are the flat-topped airtight stainless steel containers from Life Without Plastic. Their flat top makes them easy to stack and the fact that they are airtight means food can be stored longer. Read about my favorite container here.
You can also learn to can foods in glass jars or dehydrate produce to keep through the winter. I did question whether it was better to donate these unhealthy items or to trash them. Turns out, our Oaklandwater is fine without a filter.

So we can avoid plastic water filter cartridges from now on. For those who do need to filter their water, Brita has teamed up with Preserve to create a way to recycle the plastic cartridges. All prepared soy milk cartons contain plastic. I squeeze fresh lemon and lime juice and keep it in glass jars in the refrigerator. And we make our own hummus, either from dried chick peas or from the dry mix in the bulk bin at Whole Foods.
I have no problem acquiring second-hand plastic.
I also look for items made from recycled plastic, for the same reason. This solves several plastic problems. Lately, though, I have not had the time or energy to maintain my compost bin. But here in Oakland(as well as Berkeley and San Francisco) we have city-wide composting. We can put all of our food scraps (including meat) and food-soiled paper, along with yard waste, into our green bins. Read more about collecting garbage without plastic trash bags.
If you live inCalifornia, you should not flush cat poop unless you know for sure it is free of the parasite toxoplasma gondii, which is harmful to sea otters. Outdoor cats are susceptible because they pick it up from rodents. But the best cat toys of all.Thank you Nordic Visitor and in particular Dagny. The overall experience exceeded our expectations.
We loved the attention to detail. Annie obviously understood what type of planning we wanted. We were able to be spontaneous if we saw something that we wanted to include. Many of the owners of accommodations told us how happy they were to be working with Nordic Visitors. The travel guide was sturdy, survived the trip in one piece, even served as a plate for our lunches eaten in the car as we would return from a walk.
We took scotch tape along to mend the map, it's pretty big to handle in the car.
And a highlighter to add stops and reminders to help us when we start putting our pictures together. But, the travel guide will be the most helpful when it comes to putting our travel album together.
The places we stayed at were so very nice. I don't know how we would rank them. The owners were so very nice and helpful. Giving us directions and making recommendations on dinners and even making reservations for us. The locations of the accommodations were usually within walking distance of village centers. Picking up our rental car was speedy and well organized.
A new car was ready for us and they took the time to go over key points of the car. Excellent service and a well organised trip. The ease of getting about was further helped by the amazingly good English spoken by almost everyone we interacted with, even in the more remote areas of the country.
I'd happily travel with Nordic Visitor again, and indeed hope to at some stage. We really loved this trip and all your help. Your suggestions were always great. The fact that you called a hotel to make last minute arrangements and then called us to explain, was so appreciated. I can't say enough about our trip, all your help, and of course the country of Iceland. We are so looking forward to coming back after October.
Did Iceland Full Circle in 2015 and Hidden Gems this year. Will book with you for sure if and when we go on anorher Scandinavian tour. Have recommended you to multiple friends already. The trip was superb and the redoing of our itinerary because of the weather was seamless which we appreciated greatly. I would highly recommend Nordic Visitor to anyone traveling - they were professional, and so very very helpful. You were very thorough in preparing the information and this made our visit easy and gave us every opportunity to see the wonderful sights of Iceland.
I found Iceland a most beautiful and exciting country but more important and impressive is the quality of your society as a whole. I thank you at all at Nordic Visitor in particular and all the people of Iceland in general for making my visit so memorable Everything was wonderful.
Many of the hotels were modest, but that's what we expected. They were still quite nice and comfortable. The country was beautiful, and we loved how hands-off the tour was. It was great to have hotels, a car, and airport transport planned for us but to have our days otherwise open.
Hotels were excellent in terms of location as well as accommodation. Variety in hotel selections was also a plus. Bjarni provided excellent service. He responded very quickly to our concerns and resolved all issues to our satisfaction. We were impressed with how well everything fitted together. No problems with accommodation or travel, and Cicci was very helpful with the initial booking and in answering queries. Jennie was absolutely TERRIFIC in providing prompt service and information.
A great ASSET to your organization!!. The ability of Scandinavian people to communicate in English greatly enhanced our travel experience in Sweden!. I used to own a tour company myself so am quite confident that the services we received from Nordic Visitor were not only competent but actually went beyond what the promised. We used NV for an 18-day self-drive around the entire country, including Westfjords.
Keeping it short, they provided everything promised and even more. Documentation, driving instructions, optional places to visit and pretty much everything else was spot on. They even provided a cell phone for our unrestricted use (which, because of their planning and execution, was not needed, not even once call). Every encounter with a service provider, basically the rental vehicle and hotels (plus a few optional tours we had them book), went smoothly and cleanly.
Yes, they may have cost us a bit more but it was worth it (and, I'm sure, would have been even more worth it if there had been any problems along the way).
What fantastic service this company provides. They customised a tour to meet my requirements. When we arrived they gave us a complete package of information and everything was perfectly arranged.
