After selling our beachy, Los Angeles family home about two months ago, though, I have been sent into a bit of audio-video hell.
Our former home was sold with almost all of the AV goodies intact, which was a good thing on many levels. Especially in that I had a lot less to move. I did keep my terabyte Kaleidescape movie server and disc Blu-ray vault because you never give that up.
I kept my Roku streamerwhich is, I would argue, the most essential component of any good AV system these days. Other than those components, I've got squat for gear right now. I can't have a soundbar, either, because of the terms of my lease. I told you I was in AV purgatory. I'm also having to live without my beloved DirecTV service. If you follow my reviews at here at HomeTheaterReview.
I were to look at the glass half full, the fact that I could replace Frontier with Spectrum here in this condo is nothing short of a blessing. I am an original DirecTV client going back to the service's introduction in Cable has never been part of my modern AV system until now. Frontier was a bad way to experience cable for the first time, as they failed to provide working long-distance telephony, useable internet connectivity, or TV I actually wanted to watch.
Spectrum's customer service and installation was much better, including a much narrower window for installation and techs that have a basic clue at what they were doing. Things might not have been perfect, but we were making progress in throwing Frontier out the front door and replacing them with Spectrum.
The Spectrum is the company's stock DVR. It doesn't really have a price as it comes as part of your service and you don't really own it. If you upgrade or dump their service, you have to return it to your local Spectrum location, which is an abject pain in the ass. The unit is not a standard rack width nor is it small enough to stash behind your flat TV, thus it is clunky.
It is unclear how large the internal hard drive is, but it can hold a pretty good volume of TV including HD content. I would not recommend this path. How Is Spectrum's Internet? That is bad by standards. Spectrum's Internet measures in via SpeedTest. Net at just under Mbps. That isn't the fastest service that I've ever seen, as I know people with 1, Mbps aka gigabit both up and down for the same money, but down is pretty fast and fully superior to that of what Frontier was ripping me off for.
Where I have been having problems is with intermittent websites not loading no matter how fast Spectrum's service is. In the five years plus that I lived in my last house, I had none of these issues.Asked by pkkaiser. Just got Spectrum Cable installed. The box is a Spectrum H so Humax. I assume that means I use the Humax Cable V1. But I have no idea where the IR port is on this thing.
Tried using a flashlight and no circle is visible anywhere. Any ideas would be great! I just signed up last night and will be testing it today. They use Humax boxes so I am looking also. I will update you if I find anything. To answer my own question. Humax are RF not controllable by C4. Had to get different box from spectrum that had IR capability and now all is good with SA driver. C4 tech support has mentioned a few calls have come in with this lately and spectrum will only be supplying these boxes on new installs.
I have Spectrum H boxes, control4 ir will not communicate with them but when I try a universal remote the IR works fine. The IR drivers should work fine. If u just fiddle with the placement around that zone, u should get it. If the cable box is paired to a cable remote via RF, it will not respond to IR commands. You must reset the RF pairing by factory resetting the remote. The H recycled Humax boxes and the T recycled Technicolor boxes. They look almost identical but their IR receivers are in different locations.
On jobs where there are more then one cable box one must verify the location of the IR receiver on each box. You can post now and register later. Posted February 13,
. Recommended Posts. Posted February 27, I miss the Motorola DVR for so many reasons.
The remote is slow to respond and the software interface is cumbersome, requiring additional steps for simple tasks. There is no channel or clock display on the front panel despite having the option to select one OR the other when programing it.
In the Menu, you cannot select the type of Sport or Movie, etc you would like to watch, nor the sequence of future events. To jump a day requires at least 3 additional steps. There is only one cumbersome, multi step, way to record a series AND it does not allow to limit the number of recordings on the series to keep. Thus, you may end up having to go back and delete to avoid filling up the DVR. There is no Live button option.

There are only a few things that I like better picture but, overall, it has been a painful switch. I can't believe that the Spectrum team did not thoroughly test the DVR. I am hoping for a software upgrade ASAP otherwise, For searching, on the new Spectrum Guide is it possible to key in the sport on the keyboard that you want to watch, i.

The new Spectrum Guide remotes only work on the new World Boxes though, but a lot of customers don't like the new remotes compared to the older ones.
If going back to the old remote is not enough, you might want to go to a Spectrum Store, and ask if they still have a box with a clock. The new World Boxes don't have clocks, because modern receivers are going without clocks, as most people look at their computers, devices, or ask Alexa, "What Time is it? This service is currently undergoing maintenance. This post highlights how to do this with customers. Customers tend to fall into two camps: Those who don't want to review your product or hate it. Those who can't review it or don't know how. Once you look at reviews in this way it'll become easier to identify opportunities.
How to get customer reviews 1. Just ask me When you eat at a restaurant, the waiter will ask you whether you like the food.
Email follow-ups Get customer email addresses at the point of purchase, even if you sell stock offline. Likewise Amazon email me every time I buy something to ask if I would like to leave feedback.
Make reviews count Another thing Amazon does well is to use my reviews to recommend other products that I may like in the future. Focus groups Before going to market with a product, bringing together a focus group is an essential step for gathering feedback. Create a 'reviewographic' Collect data from customers and turn it into graphs and data sets to show on an Infographic. Here's an example of all the aggregated reviews on Yelp that you could do on a smaller scale: 6.
Create comparison charts Run a poll across your site to get customer feedback and then add this data into a comparison so people can see how you stack up against competitors.
A good example is: Anti-Spyware Reviews 7. Add reviews to your website An obvious step, but one that is missed a lot. Link to external reviews from your website I've written reviews before simply because I wanted to get either a tweet or a link from a major company to my own blog and I'm sure I can't be the first person to do this. Incentivise me In other words, give me your product for free so I can write about it.
Free samples I could talk forever about the benefits of free stuff (and usually do). The more people trying and testing your product the more chance you'll have of reviews. Offer trial versions Likewise if you allow people to test your service for a short amount of time, or let them try a simpler version of your product at a cheaper or freemium price, it gets more people discussing your product. Contact details For offline products, that can't reach their customers after a sale has been made, make it as easy as possible for customers to get in touch with you.
Referral offers Having people review your product earns you a silver medal, but having people bring you extra sales is the only way to get gold. Get profiles Consider the places your customers would go online to write reviews (or cheat and search for where your competitors have them) and make sure you have a profile on that site. Snag local profiles Get local listings on Yelp, Qype, Brownbook and more. Stickers Qype, Ciao and other review websites have stickers that brands can display in their store, and badges they can use on websites that ask people to review the product.
Add these where possible, and include them on leaflets and email drops as further review sources. Give me something new Any product without a great USP doesn't really deserve to be talked about. If you create something interesting it naturally encourages debate and reviews.
